Color Is Confidence

 I think Jeffrey Bilhuber's quote "Color Is Confidence" will be my new motto for the beginning of 2011 ( I am not committing to an entire year- but I will commit to a quarter).  I am so excited about the year to come and all that it promises....my quote of 2010 was "Deck the Halls in 2011 - It is Time"...SO go for it!

I love the mix of old and new and the ceiling is gorgeous

On a side note - I am in love with this picture.  The couple clearly has an amazing sense of humor and style and I would give anything to be a guest at their New Year's Eve party tonight.  They would also look adorable in the photo posted above...

 I have been sorting through piles of samples today and every sample I have tossed into the LOVE pile is in some shade of navy or teal...I think it must be the weather or being trapped inside with a toddler and a baby....but one of my rooms is going to be changing pretty soon.  I need some of this in my life!

New Year New House!

This week I am determined to get my house in order!  I want a fresh start for the New Year and I want to try to eliminate all the clutter (kind of hard to do with two children and a design business) to make room for new treasures and a few new projects.....

I have been working on a mirror for over my mantle - should be ready any day now.....

I am finally going to hang all of  our photographs going up the back staircase....

So excited to get my new 2011 Calendar in place and my "idea" board up and installed in my office!

..... Bunny Williams' new book Scrapbook for Living.....run out and grab one- I have been curled up on the sofa all day reading it and re-reading it.  Great ideas and a very creative way of putting her thoughts into a NEW book.

BABA

After a crazy week with work and wrapping,  all I want to do is crawl into bed and take a long winter's nap!  The man in this picture made so many of my dreams come true - my grandfather was a huge role model for me and Christmas is just not quite the same without him (he made the doll house 31 years ago!).   I hope to make him proud with our new location - my house!

I am running out of time to get it all done by Friday!  I am taking a couple of days off to help Santa get a few things together for the big day...I need a clock in every room to remind me of how much time I have left and what I am forgetting.....

Why do I love this one so much?

A Williamsburg Tradition

For years my husband's family spends a day in Williamsburg before Christmas.  We have lunch - this year it was the Blue Talon Bistro....the food was amazing and so was the service,  considering we had over twenty six people!

Everyone then does a race down to the end of a field and back (not sure when or how this tradition started but it is hilarious)

We then stroll down the main street of Colonial Williamsburg .....The most beautiful Santa I have every seen is always passing out candy canes and telling the children they are on the "nice list" (which made my daughter's year)....

And then I always sneak off to the Nancy Thomas Store  .......

She is known for her beautiful painted angels....the ones below are adorable and could be on your walls all year long...

I love these hand painted figures that she does - So festive!

It is really one of my favorite parts about the Holiday Season and I am fairly new to this very old tradition....I look forward to many more to come!

Each colorway is shown in the background - the woman in the picture is of Lulu's mother taken in the 1960's....

The inspiration for "colors" -  a mosaic Lulu did.  Her process for creating new fabrics stems from much of her original artwork.  I would LOVE to have this hanging in my house somewhere - I may have to take one of the color ways and have it stretched so I can hang it as art!

 The color in this room is so sophisticated and the trim done in the same color as the walls but in High Gloss is FABULOUS.  I love the way it makes the mirrors and chandelier POP and that one pretty little chair in the center of the table.
